Jimmmmmmayayayayayaya

First and foremost Happy Birthday JIMMAYAYAYAYAYA. I took this photo of jimmy when we had left pacific mall one day. jimmy and ryan had both gotten this weird sweet which they thought was good, but it turned out to be a bait out and it was ultra dry. This is jimmy struggling to finish the one in his mouth.

I have been quite busy these last few days so expect a long post. We still start with friday. Friday started off with a normal day of class. After class I met up with Ian Amy and Jo and we played badminton for sometime before my bus back home. We played around for a fair bit. Nothing too crazy happened during badminton though.

After a long bus ride home I eventually made it home. Once I got home a group of us went to go see Pans Labyrinth. The movie was excellent. Some scenes were a tad graphic or eerie but overall a very good movie. After the movie people headed back to my house where we sat around and talked for quite some time.

The next day I woke up to justin calling me telling me to go downtown. We left for downtown at around 2. That trek downtown was the most walking I had done in a long time. We started off at Eaton centre and walked around the mall for a bit. After getting bored we walked down Queen St W towards Silver snail. At Silver Snail I bought an interesting Manga by Osamu Tezuka called The Ode to Kirihito. The book looks to be very twisted and cool. After silver snail we walked all the way back up to Eaton centre.

On the way there we stopped off at a Second Cup because justin wanted a drink. I have never actually ordered a drink from Second Cup (or any coffee place for that matter) but after seeing justin get a Chocolate milk I was tempted to get one. In my mind I thought to myself how good could a chocolate milk from second cup be? My Patti makes the greatest chocolate milk in the world. However after drinking that chocolate milk I was damn surprised. My Patti's chocolate milk will still be #1 in my heart of course, but Second cup comes a very close second. I can picture myself going to second cup quite frequently now.

Once we got to Eaton centre we wandered around the mall for a bit once again. After we got bored again we decided to head down to church st. We walked down yonge for a bit only to quickly realize we were walking parallel to Church. We took a quick detour and ended up on church. Nothing really was happening on this street. We walked from Church St up to bloor. At around this time we were getting a little hungry so we started looking for a place to eat. We walked down bloor towards yonge. Then back up yonge. Eventually we came across a Quiznos. I hadn't had quiznos in quite some time so we went there. As always the subs were damn good. After eating we headed back to justins place where he got the car.

We first went to go pick up edward. We were at eddu's for a bit because he needed to eat some food. We all talked about some random junk then I got my ass handed to me in ping pong.

After playing some ping pong we went and got bbt and then went off to pick up sean. After we got everyone we headed back to my house and sat around and talked for a bit. Ryan came by for a while and we played DS for a bit. Ryan destroyed all of us one by one in Bomberman. However I managed to throughly trash him in Tetris which is all that really matters.

Sunday I came back to waterloo and brought with me a bunch of junk and food. The most important thing I brought though was Justins Wii. Since he is playing so much WoW he hasn't had time to play his Wii. I watched some anime and tv shows till Andrew and Ian got back from home. Before they returned I went and got some chocolate milk with Amy. They ran out of whip cream for the hot chocolate which made me quite sad. Amy and I talked about random stuff like high school and stuff and eventually headed home. Amy was quite busy with various labs and tests. Once Andrew and Ian returned I went over to their place and played some Wii sports. We played lots of Tennis Golf and Baseball. Baseball is broken with those damn splitters! Its always funny seeing people play Wii sports. Amy was constantly trash talking Ian, it was hilarious.

Monday is a big blur. I don't think I did anything that important.

Yesterday was a very intense day. After a CS241 Lecture I started working on the CS241 assignment. I had to write an assembler that would convert MIPS processor instructions into binary. So for example if someone wrote a mips program that added two numbers, my assembler would take that file and produce the corresponding 0's and 1's to tell the processor what to do. It sounds hard but the assignment comes with a starter file which saves you a lot of time. However even with that file I was struggling. After a good 6 or so hours of solid coding and repeated failures I lost my spirit. After wasting time online and watching a bit of crap I got myself back in gear and plowed through the assignment with another 3 or so hours of programming. CS is wicked. Its always a nice feeling when you give up hope but out of no where you have an epiphany and everything becomes clear and you manage to fix your program. Now that I have finished CS I am done for the week!

Today was a grand day indeed. It started off with various lectures. In calculus I learned about a calc test I had forgot to study for. Luckily for me Calc 3 is still super easy so it wasn't a big deal. The only course I am really worried about is CS245, logic of computation. That course makes NO sense. I will get into that course another day though.

After all my lectures I headed home and did a bit of calc. After doing a few problems I realized this test can't possibly be that difficult and diverted my attention towards watching some Shuffle! I eventually went and wrote the test and came back in one piece. Once I got back I quickly wrote my online stat quiz then went back to watching anime. At around 8 I decided to go check out the badminton club. I was throughly confused about how everything worked. They didn't really tell me when I was playing or how any of this stuff worked. I am still quite angry about the stupid club so lets just say I was there for a good hour and didn't play a single round. I left quite angry and then decided to just come home and finish the day with some chocolate milk and more anime.

Hopefully tomorrow will be more interesting.

Daniel Telling a story

I took this photo of Daniel when we had gone to china Buffet for x'mas / new year dinner. This photo reminds me a lot of this photo.

I have been quite busy these last two days. Yesterday was spent doing a chunk of CS and today was mainly devoted to more CS, C&O (Combinatorics and Optimization) and a calc assignment I didn't know about. After struggling with a small aspect of this weeks CS assignment I stopped and though to myself maybe I shouldn't be in CS. The last time I had this feeling was after the Waterloo Computer Science contest in high school. That was hands down the hardest contest I had ever seen. I love programming, I just don't think I have the problem solving skills to do it. I prefer doing calculus and algebra over CS. We will see where this term takes me. The program I am currently in involves me taking a fair number of math courses which is nice.

So back to talking about these past two days. Yesterday started off with a whole string of classes. Followed by my frosh leader interview. The interview was just with two students which was nice. It started off okay, fairly simple questions, "Why do you want to be a frosh, what can you contribute" then they started pulling out all sorts of weird questions like "Name an event where you went against the popular decision". I was like WTF, after a little bit of thought I started talking about movies and what not and they seemed to buy into it a little but at the end they were like "you could have just said your decision not to drink". After cursing a bit in my head they asked the next question. "What do you do if you like a frosh and they hint that they like you back?" You aren't allowed to hit on the frosh so I laughed a little at the question and thought for a moment and said "Well its just wrong going for a frosh. Even if I think they are attractive it just seems wrong. I would probably just lie to them and say I have a girlfriend or just tell them straight up they can do a lot better then me." Both people laughed at my answer. The last and most difficult question they asked was "What was your favourite frosh game?" Now for a person who never went to frosh this was quite difficult to answer. I can't even remember what I said but I think I left the interview in an okay position. Hopefully I will get a response from them because I really do want to be a frosh. Considering I missed my frosh I want to see what its like to be in frosh. I also think it will be fun bossing around first years and what not. But the biggest reason for me to join frosh this year is so that I can slowly work my way up the frosh ranks to guarding the holy pink tie. Guarding the pink tie is like the 2nd highest position a math frosh leader can have (highest being director who organizes frosh).

After the interview I wrote a stats quiz which was semi-owanage then went home to do some CS. At night I went to CIF to do some exercise. Exercising while doing sudoku squares is the greatest way to exercise. Everything passes by SO much faster. I finished two sudoku squares by the time I finished my workout. Another great part of exercising is exercising and listening to going the distance or gonna fly from the rocky soundtrack. Whenever I hear those songs I want to start speeding up but I'm pretty sure I would burn out super fast if I did. Once I was finished at the gym I came home and did more cs and eventually called it a night after watching bleach.

Today was a pretty busy day as well. After my CS 241 lecture I went and studied with Andrew at DC. We worked on the C&O assignment again and this time got much more done. After much struggling on both our parts we finished all but 2 questions. I was fairly pleased.

We called it a day at around 4:30 so I left DC at around 5. I bought a cookie for the walk home and it was a damn good cookie! Once I made it back here I started working on a Calc assignment I forgot about. I managed to finish the calc 3 assignment in about one and a half hours which was awesome. I love calc so much! The assignments aren't totally crazy and the stuff we have done so far isn't super intense either. I can't see why people don't like calc.

After calc I went back to CS 241 and continued churning out bugs and trying to get as many marks as I can. After hours of coding I have basically finished the assignment except for 1 part. That single part is worth 4/60 so I decided to just leave it. Its not worth the extra hours of sifting through code and debugging.

Somewhere while doing CS241 I went out and got dinner with elaine. We went to Golden Mango, a small chinese/pho like restaurant near us. The food is okay, nothing that impressive. After dinner we headed out to get some bubble tea from bubbletease. I ordered my usual, banana milk tea with no ice. So after waiting a DAMN long time for it they eventually give it to me and its warm. Not hot, but like luke warm. It was the NASTIEST milk tea in the world. I had to ask them to put ice in it because it was so warm. I also had to drink it from the top to bottom. It was a very unpleasant drink. While at bubbletease elaine and I played big brain academy. God I love this m3 simply.

Just a note but comments still don't work. Stupid ass google blogger won't let me concatenate .html to the post pages (the individual pages for each post). The old posts have .html but all new posts after switching to google blogger don't have .html. It will take some time before I can figure out how to fix this. The only option available to me right now is to just migrate all my crap to a different host service thingy, like wordpress or textpattern.

Yvonne eating Ice cream

I took this photo when we had gone for a big dinner at Buffet King. Not quite sure why I like this photo but its nice.

Today was a horrendously cold day. The air was like ice. To make things worse I didn't have my scarf so my face was like frozen. Made me wish I had that ninja mask redford owns.

Anyways after walking to school I had to hand in a CS245 assignment. The assignment required a cover page which I couldn't print because I don't have a printer. So for a little while I was in MC trying to figure out how to print crap from the school computers. In the end I was a giant scrub and simply gave up. I made my own cover page and now I pray they mark it.

Today my only class was CS241 which is still really interesting but also very confusing. The course doesn't really involve much note taking. It is more like "Here is how this function works....use it". It may sound like a crap ass class but the prof is quite cool so its still great.

Once I finished CS I headed to pho and got some lunch. Once I finished lunch I signed up for my interview time to be a frosh leader. Hopefully I can be a frosh leader. It seems like a lot of fun. Even though I didn't go to my frosh I still hope I can get in.

On my way to DC, a library to meet someone to study, I bumped into Simon Al and Kyle. I talked to the 3 of them for about 20 minutes then headed on my way. I eventually met my buddy from Japanese 101r and we worked away at the C&O assignment. This assignment was intense. We were working around for a good 2 hours and managed to finish most of question 1. I didn't think it would take so long. Towards the end of the work session I bumped into Amy Ian and Joanna. I helped them print some crap from DC, which made me wonder why I didn't print my damn cover page here. After printing some crap Ian drove me home and I worked on Stat here.

After about 2 hours of stats/anime I headed to the gym with simon. Today was a good day at the gym. I pushed my pace up a bit so it felt like more of a workout. Also with my DS on hand I could do sudoku squares while on the elliptical. Time passed by so much faster when doing sudoku squares. I only really managed to finish 1 and then I was getting a little tired so I simply focussed on exercising. Eventually elaine came by and stole my DS and played big brain.

Once we finished eating Elaine headed to DC to study and I returned home to continue studying Stat. I work quite slow at home, but I like listening to music and being near my computer. Hopefully I will be ready for tomorrows stat quiz.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

This is a photo of kevin after I totally destroyed him in Wii Tennis. Jimmy took a series of photos of kevin during the match point. I should make them into a gif or something

Today was a great day indeed. I ended up going to bed at around 3 A.M finishing up my CS245 assignment only to wake up at 8:30 to find out that it was a snow day. Since I had already woken up I decided to stay up and work on some more CS. I finished 4 out of 6 CS241 questions which was quite nice.

Inbetween working on CS I was downloading various programs for OS X and also downloading anime. Running 10.4 is wicked! There are so many great programs available on 10.4 One such program is Quicksilver. Quicksilver is a pretty simple program, it basically lets you quickly open files without having to go through and find them using your mouse. So say if I wanted to open up Photoshop. I can hit Apple Spacebar and type in photo and it will bring up a list of files/programs that start with photo. It automatically judges what files you will want to see and what you don't want to see. This may all sound very stupid but it really improves how fast you can get things done. I find myself using it more and more now.

At around 1 or 2 I went and got Dim Sum with Amy Andrew Ian and Joanna. I can't remember the name of the place we went to but it was pretty nice. Joanna was a scrub and ordered a ridiculous amount of food. However we managed to go through a fair bit and joanna took care of a fair number of plates on her own.

After dim sum we headeded home and I continued working on CS and downloading random shit. Now I am tired and plan to finish the day with some anime, laundry, and maybe CS.

Update: Comments still don't work. Can't figure out how to add .html to allt he individual posts. Stupid ass google blogger. If you use IE you should be able to make posts. Firefox, opera and Safari still don't work I think.

Edward Posing

Edward is by far the best person to take photos of. Almost all photos I have of him deserve to be framed. Partly because they tend to come out really well, partly because I always take photos of him making funny actions. This was taken when we were all playing Cranium in my basement one weekend.

This last weekend has been quite fun. Friday was Simons birthday so as soon as I got back to toronto I quickly started planning where we should eat. Since simon is a big fan of Steak I decided with the Keg. After few complaints we all rallied together and headed to the keg.

Once we reached the keg we had to wait a good hour before actually sitting down. The people working there are all quite nice which is very deceiving. They talked to us about 6 or 7 times before we actually sat down each time saying we were going to be seated in roughly 10-15 minutes. Aside from that though the Keg was very nice. I had no complaints with my food. I ordered some ribs and split Calamari with Redford. The calamari was great.

After the keg most people headed to my house and we all talked well into the night. The first part of the night was just making fun of kevin and how he has a fear of hugging girls. Jimmy yells to elaine "Hug kevin" and elaine motions to hug kevin and kevin instantly throws his hands into the air and backs away. This happened 3 or 4 times throughout the night. After a while kevin kept asking elaine to hug him but it was too late.

After that there was a lot more random conversations going back and fourth. Some people went to get bubble tea and a bunch of people went home. Late into the night Simon and Daniel were arguing and Daniel was just making fun of how weak simon was. Daniel beat Simon in an arm wrestle then said simon couldn't lift elaine. Simon tried a bunch of times but couldn't lift her. This was probably due to the fact elaine was pushing down and wouldn't let simon lift her. So instead he walks over and lifts me up. After a bit more arguing everyone the three of them left at around 5 or 6 in the morning.

I woke up on Saturday at around 3pm. Most of the day was spent sitting around until around 9:30 when I went to McDano's with Justin Ryan and Sean to get some dinner. After dinner we headed out to go see Curse of the Golden Flower. The showtime site I checked posted the wrong time. This is the second time this has happened. The first time I assumed I was an idiot and read the time wrong but I doubt I would do it twice in a row. So we showed up to the movie a good 10 minutes late. We quickly ran inside to find out we hadn't missed much. Curse of the golden flower was pretty good. At times cofusing but stil pretty cool. Jay chou does a much better acting performance in this movie. Also the song at the end of the movie was top tier.

After the movie we went and got bubble tea and met up with Simon and Vanessa. We talked at bubble tea till around 2:00 then called it a night.

Sunday was spent just getting things together. Carvil came by and dropped off the M3 Simply and OS X 10.4 dvd. The two things I really needed. Well not so much the m3 simply but the OS X dvd. After carvil came by I bussed down to Pmall to pick up a keyboard and Micro SD card for the M3 Simply. It was a damn long bus ride. Mccowan is too slow on sunday.

After I got the SD card I quickly downloaded a bunch of games to test the M3 and was surprised at how easy it was to use and how great it works. This simple invention brings new life to the DS. I can't wait to start putting some crazy roms on my DS.

Now I must finish my CS assignment for tomorrow... I probably should have wrote this post after finishing the assingment. Oh well.

Good Friends

This photo was taken when Simon Felix and I stopped by MKV to go pay a visit to Valerie. A bunch of Valerie and Phoebe's friends came up to celebrate Lily's birthday. I took a fair number of photos that day, this was one of them.

Today was another great day of CS241. That course is wicked. It is really interesting learning about how CPU's work and also working in unix.

After the lecture I headed to subway to get some lunch. I have been eating subs for a while now. It is my attempt to eat a little healthier. Not sure how long I can keep it up though, subs are damn expensive.

Once I got home I watched some anime. My new used eMac is much faster then my iBook and old imac so its great being able to watch anime without any problems. Only problem is the OS I am running is about 3 or 4 years old so it lacks a fair number of features.

Once simon got back from his lectures we decided we would go to the gym at around 5:00. Once I finished all of slayers we luckily managed to find Elaine online and the three of us went to CIF. Today, like many other days, the ellipticals were all in use. I felt like trying a different cardio machine so I went on one of the bikes. It was damn tiring. It also didn't help having Elaine next to me bugging me to go faster. Once I finished biking Elaine wanted to try using the medicine balls so we both tried doing various things posted on the walls. Elaine would usually try first, struggle, then I would try next and also struggle.

After we finished at CIF the three of us got some lame chinese food at China legend. That place serves too much food. We got the set dinner for 3 but it was enough for at least 4 or 5 people. Elaine and I both took parts of the meal home since simon did not have a fridge.

Once I got home I talked to people online for a while then eventually felix came by and we went to his place. At felix's we watched transporter 2. The movie had some impressive action scenes but still a stupid movie overall. After the movie we talked about cars for a bit and then called it a night. Now I must get some good sleep.

Note: Commenting still doesn't work because firefox won't open the page unless .html is concatenated to the end of the page. I will try and fix that soon.

Note 2: Happy Birthday Simon TSANG! You're an old man now!
